President Trump asked Shane Bouvet to write a book about their experiences together. This book is the manifestation of that request. There are some very important themes within this story that are presented through private conversations between Shane and President Trump, however, the reader is cautioned because the book is based on Shane’s best recollection, as a result, may or may not represent accurately what happened. The book is to be considered a fictional representation. Some timelines, events and quotes have been altered to improve the reader’s experience and may not reflect what was actually said or happened.
About the Title
The title is a prediction Shane said to Donald Trump the first time they met in a receiving line at a pre-Presidency rally. The details are on page 33.
Author’s Themes:
Friendship – One way to understand what makes or breaks friendship is to look at ones where there are, at least on the surface, extreme differences. President Trump and Shane Bouvet, a single father democrat coal miner who lives at home with his parents and takes care of his father, at least on the surface couldn’t possibly be from more different worlds. As you discover why they choose to be friends and the difficulties they had to navigate to continue being friends, the reader might find inspiration to improve their own friendships.
Social Position – Some people are desperate to climb the ladder to higher political and social positions and measure every person they meet on how much they can help them get there. Other people are simply passionate about something and accomplish great things and go great places. There are people in this story who are ladder climbers seeking power and position while kicking down anyone in their way. There are people in this story who are all about passionately serving. Shane, the male Cinderella, in this story is the one who ended up spending more time in the Whitehouse than the most powerful foreign leaders.
Fame – Fame is something many fantasize about, however, the downside can be much larger than the up side until managing it is properly is understood. Even then, the scales only tip in the direction of benefit while much of the downside remains. People with fame and power have it even worse because they are constantly approached by people who want a piece of their fame and power, or even to tear them down out of jealousy. They can be deceptive and cunning, hiding their true intentions in order to take advantage for themselves. People with fame, money and power often isolate and are not sure who to trust, making life quite difficult and friendships very risky. Shane found himself unexpectedly famous even before meeting President Trump. As a result, he is no stranger to the difficulties.
Hate – Politics is not a big theme in this book, but its impossible to avoid with a political candidate in the book. A political marketer’s dream is to get people to hate the opposing candidate. When a person hates the opposition, the other candidate can do and say virtually anything and the candidate hated will never get that person’s vote. The opposition can make virtually any declaration, true or false, about the candidate who is hated and the person hating will believe it and never research or question the statements. I will suggest hate is negative and a consuming tumor that requires feeding. The political marketers are quite happy to feed the hate if you are willing to take it in. With that in mind, I asked some people who absolutely hate President Trump to review this book. All of them found the book relived them of hate for President Trump. None of them reported any change in where their vote will go, but they all said the book freed them from hating and felt better and more in control of their thoughts and opinions as a result. The most common comment was that they liked Shane Bouvet. They saw in the book how Shane and President Trump became friends and liked how they treated each other. Their conclusion most often was that as a friend of Shane, a person they understood and could relate to, President Trump was not deserving of hate. They still believed fully that President Trump was not worthy of their support based on their understanding of his policies, but they no longer hated him. They said they were told by Trump’s opposition that Trump was full of hate and spreads hate and as a result, he should be hated. Their conclusion from reading the book was that at least in the case of his friendship with Shane, there was love and kindness they didn’t expect, and enjoyed reading about.
These are just my interpretations. As a reader, see what jumps out to you as important as you read the story. Below are some of President Trump’s public quotes about Shane. You will note that from his perspective, the connection between Shane and his dad, had a big impact on him. President Trump explains why this theme jumps out for him as the book progresses. I believe it’s mostly because President Trump had a great relationship with his dad and was missing him since he passed away. See what you think.

About the Author David Allinder
I grew up just outside the city of Pittsburgh. I wasn’t much for sports but was really into cars. I worked constantly detailing cars, mowing lawns, delivering newspapers and working at my brother-in-law’s Italian restaurant. One of my great enjoyments during college at Duquesne University’s School of Business was working on and driving my Brother-in-law’s 1981 DeLorean sports car. I became obsessed with the car and its creator John DeLorean. Ultimately John and I became good friends. Growing up, many of the people I worked for were successful business men, and I followed their inspiration. I worked as a consultant right after graduation and I purchased rental property during my early 20’s. When I was running a consulting group in the Duquesne University Graduate school of business, I got an MBA and did an outside consulting contract with Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute. After fifteen years of consulting, and paying off my house and rentals, I decided to start a magazine publishing company with my boyfriend. I loved making businesses successful and a better place to work, but I wanted the freedom of owning my own business. Now after eighteen years of producing IN Wheeling Magazine and university and private school alumni magazines, I’m publishing my first book. Publishing a book that President Trump asked to be created is a great honor. I have never met or spoken with President Trump. I leave all that to one of his best friends, Shane Bouvet.
I currently live in Pittsburgh with my boyfriend Tony and his two kids who are with us part time. Four years ago, I became social media friends with Shane Bouvet. He private messaged me because he saw in my profile I had a publishing company. He told me his story and I offered my interpretation of what the story meant and what value it could bring to readers. Shane liked what I saw in the story and we executed a contract transferring ownership of his story to my publishing company. I wrote the book from six years of interviews with him, and supporting research.
